Man arrested for assault

On Saturday, April 15 at approximately 8:30 p.m., Eagle Pass police officers responded to a residence within the 600 block of Concho Street in reference to several calls of a person requesting assistance.

Responding officers arrived to find a male juvenile holding down an adult male, identified as 22-year-old Ramon Abelardo Salinas,  in front of a residence. Officers detained Salinas after the juvenile informed officers that Salinas arrived at his grandparent’s residence where he was alone, and requested to borrow a video game remote.

The juvenile informed officers that after telling him repeatedly to leave the property, he noticed the male walk to the back of the property for unknown reasons. The juvenile then confronted Salinas and a struggle ensued. He was able to restrain Salinas and yell for help at which time an adult neighbor arrived to assist until police arrived.

Salinas was arrested and presented before a magistrate where he was formally charged with assault and remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center and given a $4,000 bond.

In an unrelated incident, the Police Department had received a report a possible sexual assault of a child. The Eagle Pass Police Criminal Investigators were informed, and an investigation has commenced.
